Nail discolorations in both fingers and toes can come from a variety of things. Banging your foot on the car, your diet, illnesses, poisons, even lotions and soaps can cause discolorations in your nails. If you're pretty sure you aren't being poisoned, and you haven't been ill, you can just about bet that they come from hitting your foot or squashing it into your shoes! Nothing to worry about (unless you think you might actually be BEING poisoned!)My 2 big toe nails seem to be turning white ,but just in one area any idea what could be causing this?

Check your shoes. If you subconsciously lift your big toes up many times during the day, they rub against the toe of your shoe. The pressure polishes the tops of your big toenails.
Also, make sure your toenails are not too long.
The most common thing would be toe fungus under the nail. There are a number of over the counter treatments but they take months to work unfortunately.
