Chewing toenails? I'm going to go puke now.Any one here bite there toe nails or there nails tell they hurt?
my lil sis used to do that when we were kids. send me an email... maybe i can help you help your friend stop biting their nails.
i used to bite my fingernails but .... bite my toenails? eww... that's gross

tell your friend to stop doing that... they might develop a worm inside their body.... and it's unsannitary!!!
No.

But please consider learning the difference between ';their'; and ';there';. They are two completely different words.
lol i do

How do you make your toe yellow nails be shorter?!?

how do you make your yellow toe nails shorter? How do you make your toe yellow nails be shorter?!?
I would suggest keeping all your toe nails short, by using a toe nail clipper. Get the ones that trim straight across to avoid ingrown toe nails. If you have yellow on some of your toe nails, and especially if they're growing thicker and starting to flake, you should see a doctor, because it could be a fungal infection. How do you make your toe yellow nails be shorter?!?
yellow toe nails? gross.

They made an invention called nail clippers.
you have yellow toenails? thats disgusting

Would you notice a guy with pink nail polish on his toes?

How much attention do you pay to guys' feet? Would you notice a guy wearing sandals with a very light shade of pink polish on his toes in a common public setting?Would you notice a guy with pink nail polish on his toes?
Yeah, I think you better pay attention to that guy, because he is a probably a demon in the sack. Because, you know, God and the Bible and stuff.Would you notice a guy with pink nail polish on his toes?
Yeah you would but he would look like a complete loser.
i wouldn't. I dont pay attention to things that are none of my business. but i did notice that on the last day of school this guy wearing a green skirt over his pants. but my school is really small.
it would have to be VERY light.
yes, if he was wearing diamante flip flops to match
Only if he's wearing flip flops.
I think mens feet are so disgusting and most of them are hairy, hairy toes etc, I never purposely check out a guys feet and I wouldn't reccommend that you do anything to attract attention to your feet, especially by painting them with nailpolish and you also said you have a reasonably manly appearance, well you won't if you paint your toes pink or any color for that matter!!
yes i really would, i would think he was joking though, unless he was gay. dont take the risk, people will notice (if ur even thinkin bout it) =D
I would definitely notice.
I don't think guys should wear flip flops or sandals for that matter but I mean I would probly guess you were gay!
that is a little creepy, man ! why a normal guy would paint his toes anyway ??
Gross! Hell Yeah I Would!
Yes I would, I notic things like that and I actually have spotted a guy with that

  • What color should i paint my toe nails? black/red/both?

i only wear black clothing, or go with red, i paint some of my nails in black and some in red

i wonder what color should i paint my toe nails when i wear flip-flop or sandals (i wear black footwear, of course) all black? some in black and some in red? or all red?

thx for your opinionWhat color should i paint my toe nails? black/red/both?
Why dont you try doing a Black base and a Red American manicure on the tip....kinda like a french manicure....just black and red....or visa versa......

And to the guy who has a problem ^^^^^^......If you dont like them so much then just dont answer the questions.....its a waste of time....

Take care...What color should i paint my toe nails? black/red/both?
OK, first paint all your toes black. Then in red, write out C-O-N-F-O-R-M-I-S-T; one letter per toe.

I am seriously getting sick of emos. Is wearing black and having gay haircuts the only things you people know how to do?

To Sunshine: I'm just trying to help her figure out that cutting isn't the way to solve your problems. Its for her personal benefit. So YOU take care. Chief. :)
hmmmmmm i say............... idk! lol jk i say u should go w/ black bcuz everyone paints their toenails red!
Black on your toes, brings attention on your feet. I would try a less bright color. Like maby a mahogany red!
    RED
In this case, a ';FRENCH mani/pedi'; would be the best. It goes with anything you wear or don't wear anything at all....hehehheh!!! J/K.

    Best.

i bite the skin around the toenails and fingernails.

i don't do it 'till it bleeds thoughAny one here bite there toe nails or there nails tell they hurt?
no, but, I don't think it's all that uncommon ! I caught my 6-yr. old biting on his toenails. I just reminded him, that he had been walking barefoot through chicken **** and etc...... and about how people spit, and blow their noses like a trumpet everywhere, and I think he got the message.
i bite my nails till they bleed and that it hurts to move my fingers but i never bite my toe nails thats just really gross i walk around my house bare footed and we have a dog. i bite the skin around my nails too.
When my finger nails get long, I just rip them off.
    YUCK!!!!!!!
I bite my fingernails. I find that keeping them clean reassures me that they are clean and do not need ';going over';. Keeping them neatly filed should also help as your tongue does not find a rough edge fro your teeth to clasp onto. Ditto for toenails.
    Nope I sure don't.
    ew. a ';friend';?
First, make sure this friend has a good set of nail clippers %26amp; knows how to use them properly. Toe nails need to be cut straight across with no rounding. As this will cause ingrown toenails.

Second, keep a file with this person at all times. Sometimes when people bit their nails, it is because they have a rough edge %26amp; they want to get rid of it.

Thirdly, they will want to keep their hands occupied to keep them away from the mouth. And keep socks %26amp;/or shoes on their feet. They may even want to do something with their mouth such as chew gum if needs be. You may want to paint the nails with a special nail polish for nail biters. As this will give them a bitter taste to the mouth when it comes in contact with the polish.

Fourth, when this person sleeps, they will want to put something over both their hands, %26amp; feet. Such as socks, gloves, etc. They might even need a night mouth gaurd to protect them further.

Lastly, if these tricks don't work, they may even need to see a doctor. Because this may be a case of something serious.
I don't bite my toenails , but I do have a problem with the picking at them. I mostly do this when I've be smoking'. It's something too focus on when I'm high.
She actually get her toes in her mouth and keeps it long enough to bite the nails gosh i can only touch my nose with my toes.
OK - I'll 'fess up to doing exactly that, so your friend isn't alone.

Also, as a result of wearing badly-fitted shoes as a child, my little toenails (the last three on each foot) are hardly there, because my toes got so squashed, and they're so weak that they lift off very easily and then they bleed. How I envy my best friend and her painted toenails!

Ever walk in on your pet toby mcguire and find him painting his toe nails while singing barbie girl?

I'm not quite sure what to do, should I staple him to the side of a speeding bus?Ever walk in on your pet toby mcguire and find him painting his toe nails while singing barbie girl?
toby always did love barbie girl, but he claims that he only liked it because it was empowering to women, but i think he only liked it because there was a poster of val kilmer eating a kangaroo in the background of the video. either way, do NOT let him make those long distance calls to val kilmer AGAIN!Ever walk in on your pet toby mcguire and find him painting his toe nails while singing barbie girl?
Noop, just glue him to a spider web
No but I walked in once when he was drinking beer threw his nose and trying to whistle Dixie! Go ahead, staple him good.
Yes but duct tape his mouth shut first. We don't need to hear that song or some rendition of the wheels on the bus.
Zeeeeeeeeeeeebes!!! Good to see you!!! No I have not, and i am laughing, as i do NOT understand the question....is it in a code? BUT I am chuckling at the idea of staples to the side of the bus..would one then taste stapler juice?*wink*
    No I never have
Nail gun will hold him better.
are you serious? i thought i was the only one who had that problem.....

Do you think a guy should paint his toe nails?

do u think a guy should paint his toesDo you think a guy should paint his toe nails?
:| noDo you think a guy should paint his toe nails?
    If he felt like it.

Personally, I wouldn't automaticaly think he was gay, but just a quirk.
Guys aren't supposed to paint their toenails. And usually I would say ';Go ahead! Do what you feel comfortable with! Stick up for what you believe in and stick up for yourself!'; But in this case, I'm going to have to give a bit of advice... girls might find it creepy if guys paint their toenails.
No, but a clear coat would be okay. The important thing is to keep them clean and trimmed.
    yeaahh i like it (:
    Absolutely not.
Well, it might seem sort of weird if a guy were to paint his toenails. Some goths and metal head guys do it though.
    No that's just creepy...
    um ok one word

    GAY
    EEWWWW
    If he's gay- yea, sure.

if not- no. Unless it was a joke.
No I really don't.Woman do this, it really would look silly on a man.
    umm...no
I will not paint my toe nails, and I don't care if all the other men do it.

My one big toes nail is ripping way down near the center?!?

Its breaking from like the one side all the way down, and i dont know what to do... i cant peel it off because it REALLY hurts and if i do half my nail will come off

    WHAT DO I DO?

Thanks for any helpMy one big toes nail is ripping way down near the center?!?
That happened to me! I left it alone for the longest time.. and it got infected and bloody and puss-y and I went to the doctors and got medicine for that.. and then she said to soak it in warm kind of soapy water for 20 minutes each day and soon it will fall off.. and if it doesn't you have to rip it off, but do so after soaking it in warm water because it softens it up and allows it to be easier to rip off.

Good luck! Seriously.. this sucks. And your nail will never be the same again. My one big toes nail is ripping way down near the center?!?
Go to your doctor. If the tear has progressed far enough, ripping off the nail may cause damage, and your nail may not grow back. The doctor will at least take a look at it and make sure there is no damage. Also, he/she might be able to anesthetize your toe before removing the nail, so it won't hurt as much. If that isn't an option, go to your drug store, ask for nail glue in the nail polish section, and glue the nail together. This will hopefully keep the nail together long enough to allow the nail bed to heal, so that you can cut off the damaged section. This will also keep the tear from progressing. Protect the toe from further damage in the mean time. Put a band-aid on it, wear open toed shoes whenever possible, and avoid having people step on your toes. The glue solution should work within a month, depending on how far the tear has progressed, and depending on how fast your nails grow.

    Good Luck.
Same thing happened to me because someone stepped on my toe during a soccer game.

Unfortunately..my toe nail fell off after a few months. It became completely dead and then fell off. It grew back after about 5 months and now looks totally normal.

What I did was put a bandaid on it so nothing would catch it or snag it. That's about the only advice I can give you!

Just pray it doesn't fall off but if it does..it's no biggie! They grow back!
Do it like a Band aid 1-2-3 rip!!! I did this on my thumb worked like a charm after 2 minutes of almost crying...my eyes were tearing...i think, and i guess warm water helps too but i didn't try.

Thick brown toe nails??? they didnt used to look like this?

i know im not the only african american female whose toe nails look like this... its not really cute to have a french tips on these toes!!!! what can i do to get rid of it?????? does prescription lamisil really work????????Thick brown toe nails??? they didnt used to look like this?
Fungus causes this. You can file them down before you go have your pedicure. They usually will not do it in case they hit a blood vessel. Yes the prescription stuff works. Once you get cured, always wear clean socks, or open shoes, and get rid of them if they smell.Thick brown toe nails??? they didnt used to look like this?
You need to go to your primary care provider let him know what's going on. Then he will order a toe nail culture and fungus, it the test is positive the might prescribe you lamisil it does work. The thing is it will take up to a year to clear your problem. If you have insurance it will be best. Teher is no generic for Lamisil yet so you will end up paying full price.

  • I am having a problem with foot problems maybe fungus not sure dry cracklingfeet and toe nails are discoloring

these problems are all related. i work in a podiatry office and we see this frequently. sounds like you have heel fissures, dermatophytosis of hte nails and possible fungal infection both of the feet and nails. there is a great website with articles that will help you out and give you information on these different conditions. try going to myfootshop.com or using the source as link to the site and good luck! the solutions are simple.I am having a problem with foot problems maybe fungus not sure dry cracklingfeet and toe nails are discoloring
You could have a food allergy. My father has an allergic reaction where his hands crack badly if he has too much milk (cow's).

It's amplified when he drinks milk and consumes too much processed sugar.

    Best wishes,

pupI am having a problem with foot problems maybe fungus not sure dry cracklingfeet and toe nails are discoloring
ohhhhhhh, u might have.. (for got what it was called...), is your foot like, realy dry and when you peel a little off, it comes off really easly???Also, your foot has alota extral dry skin, and your toe nail is like, yellowish??? if so, i forgot what it was called, but ya, pretty sure you have 'em.
dude that has happened to me before. it is SO ANNOYING! it made me self-concious and stuff! anyway i think u definitly need 2 use lamisil 4 ur toenails and use jergans lotion. hope u get better!
    you need vitamins
    It's a fungus.
YES if your toenails are dry, yellowish, flaky you have fungus. Also your cracking feet my or may not be fungus, it may just be very dry (use some lotion everyday) or they can be athletes foot.

For your toenails, use Lamisil, it will get rid of the fungus which is living under your nails.

See your doctor or foot specialist to properly diagnose your issues. And ask about the different types of medication creams for your foot.
Try a combination of tea tree oil and colloidal silver...

One teaspoon of colloidal silver taken oraly one to three times daily for no more than five days...

Massage tea tree oil onto toenails and all around and between toes first thing in the morning and right before bedtime... sleep with bare feet... when using tea tree oil on toenails, it might be helpful to use a toothbrush or the like - use a clean, unused toothbrush and make sure to work it well into the cuticles and under the nails...

Wear socks during the day, with closed-toe shoes, and massage shea butter or cocoa butter, preferably shea, between toes during the day, to keep dry the cracked areas between the toes... You'll heal better this way, and be a little more comfortable.

Within a week, toes and toenails should be looking healthier and odor should significantly decrease.

    Throw away that toothbrush!

Why do Humans have toe and finger nails?

Such as how we evolved to have themWhy do Humans have toe and finger nails?
Finger nails and toenails are evolutionary remnants from the days when our ancestors needed claws for climbing and eating. Did you know that humans also have a residual tail? Also an evolutionary leftover, no longer needed, but still presentWhy do Humans have toe and finger nails?
So it's easier to scratch someones eyes out, and get rid of that nasty little itch.
Nails are to protect the digit end and provide a support when using the digit, it's the same substance as hair which is to protect body areas prone to temperature or rubbing, such as the armpits.
to save the fingers and toes from fraying, same reason we have lips, to stop mouth from fraying
They are a modified claw. Claws can be a hindrance performing some of the tasks primates do, so most of them have developed flat nails instead.
I Think it is to do with our evolution, we lost our tails but still have the point where they should be, finger and toe nails are probably the remnants of claws that other animals and mammals still have!
It would be really hard to walk without toes and really hard to hold things without fingers, well without finger nail u would cut yourself alot and have trould picking up some stuff
It is another way to the body gets rid of waste products.
    for grip

Guys: would you date a woman who has big feet (size 12) and long toe nails? lol?

Guys would date a sasquatch if she were easy.

You just need to keep your woman off your hardwood floors.

I assume she has a well-balanced personality? Steady on her feet? She'd be great to build a stable family around.Guys: would you date a woman who has big feet (size 12) and long toe nails? lol?
Looks or physical features don't really matter to me. As long as the woman is mature, has her life together, is confident with herself and knows what she wants. That's what makes a woman more attractive than anything. Looks are important to a degree, but not so much.

So big feet and toe nails wouldn't bother me as long as she has her sh*t together. :)

CheersGuys: would you date a woman who has big feet (size 12) and long toe nails? lol?
well i like womens feet so as long as if its nice and perm and you have some good looking toes i think its cool i hope you dont have nasty crack feet ewww

actually i would love to give you a foot massage
    Why not?

I am certain she takes good care of the toenails.

To disclude someone from possible dating to large feet would be like discluding someone because they had dark skin or blond hair, it would be ridiculous.

    Richard
She can't help having big feet, but they would have to be clean and she would definately have to trim her toenails short.
Big feet....who cares? If a guy is so shallow that he'll overlook a great girl because of this.....do you really want him?

    Long nails? Just cut them.
Well i don't care about big feet (as long as the rest of her looks good) and couldent you just trim the nails?
no and no.. especially no to the toe nails.. ew
Not with those long a*s nails.
    Yikes, sounds like an Amazon....NO...!
Yeah, although, I don't think she would date me.

if the nails are clean... i guess is okay.
eww and im not a guy
I'm not a guy.... But cut your toe nails
    H**L NO!!!
Yikes!!! even thou I am not a guy.

    Whoa

Kinda embarrassing but I used to put them in my mouth in elementary
Eww no!!! And besides, that would take way too much more work to bite your toenails than your fingernails lol.
    No that is so unsanitary!!!
I used to when I was 8. It was a horrible freaking abnormal stage in my life!!!
    No, disgusting.
No, but I used to when I was younger! I'm sorry, but I don't remember how often I did it!
At a certain point, we all did but only ';Clo'; had the courage to admit ! LOL !!
    UGH! Hell no!

    yes I am barefoot indoors
    yes

Why do elephants have toe nails?

it is the mammalian characters. Why do elephants have toe nails?
Apart from walking better, they use them to dig holes in search of water. Why do elephants have toe nails?
So they can pick their noses.
So when they scratch behind their ears it feels soooooo good. You try scratching with out nails!

Just kidding, the reason for toe nails on elephants is where else would you put the paint, I mean really have you ever tried painting your finger? You need to have the nail to put the paint on.

OK just kidding again, the fact is that with out nails they would float away. Ballast.

Just kidding again, in reality the fact that they have toe nails is a wonder, because I wonder why they have toe nail anyway, Wait, wait , wait, wasn't that your question? Sorry. Good luck. Dave
Hum? Is it because it needs them to walk

maybe choose a corral color instead of pink as it goes with more outfit choices.

red french?? ugg! first i'm hearing of that! blick!
I love girls feet. any girl who posts a pic of their feet I'll give you points.
I've just had my toe nails done in orange with small white flowers on the thumb. Looks very glamourous. I just love it.

French pedicure looks nice, but not everybody notices it.

I like pink, fresher and lighter for the summer and younger looking.

To paint them of course. Why do we have toe nails?
well sweetie pie, prehistorically, we needed all appendages to dig out grub and fingers were too soft without nails.

If you let your toenails grow out you will discover that they curve in like a talon not out like an unguent hoof.

I think biology messed up on that one. Probably because our ancestors used them as claws, but evolution hasn't really kicked in yet so we still have them. It would be really weird if we didn't ha ha.
Uh, I am not really sure.

Hmmm...most likely, to protect our toes. For instance, cows grow protective, hard coverings over their hooves to protect them (and our toenails are actually made of the same cell material that the protective exterior of cows' hooves are made out of). If we didn't grow toenails, I guess human feet would be much more vulnerable...it must have been an adaptation from previous centuries. But, who knows? Maybe someday, because people wear shoes so frequently and don't need the body's help for protection of their toes, we won't need toenails anymore, and will stop growing them! Wouldn't that be interesing...lol

Wouldn't that be interesing...lol

    :P
we are actually supposed to clip them off once in awhile

    Toe nails, who needs them?

I play tennis and am constantly loosing my big toe nails, jamming them into the front of my shoes. I've tried every thing I know of to keep the little guys, trim them way back, different fitting shoes, I've even tried changing my game, but I need all the help I can get in that area. has anyone ever had them permanently removed? What purpose do they serve? Were they claws millions of years ago? and if so, why would we need them now? ThanksToe nails, who needs them?
Consider seeing a podiatrist. He or she can look at the shoes you wear, listen to you about how you live and play sports and make recommendations about shoes or perhaps even orthotics that might help you keep those toenails. I suspect they're important for keeping infection out of your system and other purposes, but a podiatrist could tell you more.

Good luck!Toe nails, who needs them?
    um...yeah...

i suggest going to a dance store and getting some gel insoles for point shoes. Put them over your toes and then put your socks on, then your shoes...and hopefully, that will help you...keep your toenails...
take firecrackers to your toes and blast them off.
They're protection for your skin from bacterial and other things.

Try wrapping your big toe in cloth, fabric, tape or material that will fit inside your shoe and hold your foot in place.
    just keep cutting them short.

Would you pay your credit card bills if they threatened to rip your toe nails out and go ape crap all over u?

Nope. I'd tell them to bring it on and then but a blad into each one of thier internal organs, in alphabetical order of course, as a tribute.Would you pay your credit card bills if they threatened to rip your toe nails out and go ape crap all over u?
Omigod...totally. I mean, if they were threatening the fingernails, I might just flip them off, but TOENAILS!? That changes everything. I wouldn't really mind the ape crap...I';m a chef too, are you? I'm used to ape crap being flung at me all the time.Would you pay your credit card bills if they threatened to rip your toe nails out and go ape crap all over u?
I pay off my credit card bills every month, so I don't have to worry about making that decision!
Yes, you still have to pay your bill but if you have proof of this happening, at least the person's name, you should contact the ';Better Business Bureau in your area to report them for this. It is against the law for them to harass you in this way to to actually threaten you. Good luck and I hope that you are successful in filing a complaint against the company.
    No. Screw them.
You should pay your credit card bills anyway.
If you cant pay then don';t use the card.
We only buy what we have the money for. Our bills are always paid in full, except for like hospital bills or whatnot. They can get real expensive, so we try to make at least the minimum payment. But to answer you question I always pay the bills on time so I dont have to worry about anything. Happy New Year!

Help, having problems cutting my toe nails. Any advice?

My toe nails are tough, I've never been able to use clippers and have even broken or bent nail scissors when trying to cut them. I'm 50 and I think my toe nails are getting harder as I'm getting older.Help, having problems cutting my toe nails. Any advice?
Yes, this is a problem that can occur when we get a little older. The very best thing to do is see a Chiropodist, he will cut the nails, and advise you of a product that may soften them for future. Good luck.Help, having problems cutting my toe nails. Any advice?
The previous answerer is correct, soaking does help many individuals. You might try cutting them following your bath or shower. Additionally you might purchase a stronger cutter or ask your podiatrist to cut them for you, many do it for a reasonable cost around $50 a visit and most visits are once each 60 - 90 days.

    Hope this helps ...
Either soak your feet in water first or cut them right after taking a bath. The water will soften them up some. You might even want to talk to a pharmacist to see if there is an over the counter product that would help.
Soak your toes in hot water for like 15-30 min. Now try clipping the nails while the other foot is still in water.
    Cheap fix: wire clippers.
    Try a chainsaw.

    Very Unsanitary!
Oh, sick. Why would you bite your toenails in the first place? You're just transferring today's collected filth from under your toenails to your mouth.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, no I have not hahahahahahahahahahahaha
who on earth bites their toenails---- weirdo
Yes, I have bitten it so short to the point it was ingrown. That was painful. My toe was red. My chemist uncle had to apply some nitrate whatever to raise the nail up. I finally pulled it out with a sharpe knife and it was delicious. Yummy
If I could bite my toenails I would have my own TV show, be living in Hollywood, and not have time to read or answer this question!

But you know the mental image of you bitting your toenails is one that raises an eyebrow!
Heck yes, that happens a lot when you ain't got no hands.

  • How did cavemen cut their toe nails?

I used to ask myself the same thing, like so with people on deserted islands. When I took anthropology and psychology in school for the first time I was in college, I learned that prehistoric man cut their toe nails and finger nails by way of grinding them against rocks. Some didn't know any better and just let them grow out, eventually they would catch on something and tear away. This has been discovered through careful resurrection of the corpses found overseas. How did cavemen cut their toe nails?
I think they just ran around on gritty rocks until those toenails wore down. I think that was probably the least of their personal hygiene troubles. How did cavemen cut their toe nails?
went to wal-mart and got clippers
um... maybe they used a sharp object.
    they chewed them off
they chewed them off, and thats a fact.
There was no such thing as ';cavemen';. They are just a stupid theory that a whole bunch of you fell for.
they didn't. they wore them down with the days of harsh toil and hunting...like other animals do.
They used a technique we still use today called filing except they used a rock instead of a emory board.
    they probably bit them off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The word caveman is often used to refer to Neanderthals, Cro-Magnon, or Homo sapiens of the Paleolithic era. The word Homo in Homo sapeins is Latin for ';man' and the word sapiens is Latin for 'wise' or 'knowing'. Thus wise man.

In the beginning, teeth were undoubtedly the first tools to be used for cutting. However, they did skin elephants . It's hard to skin an elephant or even carve a statue just teeth alone. These were the 'wise men' and into making tools made of wood, bone, and stone appeared very early in prehistory. So, I think eventually they would have used sharp flints or even grounding stone (used for grinding) for their nails.
With clippers constructed from bone fragments, then used a stone to file them afterwards.

Either that, or they sat there with their feet in their mouths chewing their nails away, but I think that is really gross!
    They didn't
they would grind them on stones.. :) Kinda like a nail file.. or rip them off like my daughter does!

ugh.. thinking about ripping off the nail when there is skin attached makes my skin CRAWL..
they didnt there nails just broke
I would think they either bit them off with their teeth, or they used stone tools to file them down or they just wore down natually like a dogs toenails do on cement and the such.
They used their toenails and every part of their body to survive. Their nails stayed more or less normal through climbing rocks, contact with sand, hard work etc...An example : Zebras have problems with their hooves that grow all out of proportion when they are forced to live in the wrong environment.

Not enough rocky ground to wear the hooves down naturally.

We are leading easy lives today, hence bad teeth, paunches, bad eyes and ears ,antibiotics ...side effects...etc ..etc...
What makes you think that they did?
well i dont think they did

but if so they problie bit them
    THEY CHEWED THEM yuckkkkkkky
They probably didn't find the need to do so...unless a toenail was causing discomfort, they probably wore down or broke off on their own...perhaps were ripped or bitten off if the need/desire to shorten or remove them occured...
you stole my username!!! Well, Kind of!
Remember that cavemen and cavewomen did not have shoes. They sometimes walked on all fours (dispute me on this). Their fingernails and toenails would be sharpened and shaved off by the ground, the rocks, and by any hard natural substance they encountered.. Their nails were also a defense for them kind of like claws are to cats and dogs, but obviously not as sharp.
watch the flinstones, there is where you'll find your answer my friend
Maybe they chewed them off or picked at them. Groody.
Ask one of the dudes from the Geico commercials.
Since they didn't wear shoes they probably just wore down like they do in all other animals. I've never seen a monkey using clippers.
They didn't. Their nails either broke or chipped off. I'm glad we're a 'little' more evolved.
    They didn't.

What are toe nails made of?

Just wondering....What are toe nails made of?
Creatine and cystine, both are amino acids. That is why certain protein supplements or a diet hign in eggs tend to make your hair grow and have a nice shine. Works for cats and dogs too ( smile)What are toe nails made of?
human nails have the same substance as bird's beak
i think it is protein and calcium.
they are made of hair and protein i believe
Keratin, the stuff your hair and nails are made of.

It is excess protein molecules given from your body.
Like your fingernails, toenails are made from excreted proteins and other substances.
    Petrified toe jam.
keratin. same stuff as ur hair and horse feet.
same thing Ur hair and finger nails are made up of.
hmm...im not sure but its probally just particles of nail.
Protein. It's natures version of plastic. And I like them best when polished.

I have a 65 pound lab that is strong as a horse. She will not let me cut her toe nails. Any suggestions?

I think positive reward is the best and I would work very slow with her, I wouldn't expect to trim all of her nails at one time and give her, her most favorite treat after each nail that she lets you clip with lots of verbal praise as well.(maybe just holding her paws and playing with her toes for first few sessions than try clipping her nails) I would find a position that seems to be most comfortable for both of you, sitting or lying down, on the floor or on the bed etc... I would also maybe try starting with the back feet, most dogs are less sensitive about their back feet than their front. The biggest thing is not to make it into a power struggle and to try and make it as positive as possible. Let her know who is boss, but also reward her for being a good girl and work up to getting all 4 paws done at once. If she is being really uncooperative, no treats and stop for that session come back to it when BOTH of you have had time to get over it. Hope this helps some!I have a 65 pound lab that is strong as a horse. She will not let me cut her toe nails. Any suggestions?
Dogs HATE getting their nails cut. WIth my little Terrier I bribe her with cheese...for every nail I cut she gets a little cheese but if this doesn;t work don't stress your dog with holding her down etc....take her to the vet and let them do it...its cheap and alot less stressful. They do it for a living. And besides, if you accidentally cut the quik it will bleed like crazy. WIth white nails as my dog has you can see the quik but with black nails its impossible.I have a 65 pound lab that is strong as a horse. She will not let me cut her toe nails. Any suggestions?
Most dogs do not particularly care for getting their nails done. Your vet staff should be able to do this for you. Also call groomers in your area, Some pet stores have groomers associated with them, and will take your dog there. They usually have very flexible schedules, not requiring appts, and are less expensive.
Have your vet do it. Many of them will if you make an appointment.
I also have a 60 pound Lab...and cutting her nails is really frustrating. They are long, and she's not too co-operative..The other suggestions here are all good advice. I've tried using a doggie nail file, which would be fine, if they weren't so long, and IF she would sit still long enough!

Taking her to the Vet, if nothing else works, is proabably really good advice..Good Luck
I have a 75 pond chocolate lab,and she doesnt care for the nail thing either. If your dog knows set, stay and shake you should be able to do it though.I tell her to set and stay, then shake, when she gives the paw hold it and try to trim,if she starts to move say no,and stay in a firm voice,it may take awhile for your dog to get used to it,but eventually they will let you trim the nails, you may have to correct a few times with the no and stay, but it will get the job done.
my lab is about that big too and we make him sit and give his paw...you may have to have someone help you hold his paw still...or u can try getting him on the floor. have someone help you...trust me doing it alone, your asking for a fight...but have someone lie on her as you cut her nails...my big guy was a pain at first but he has learned that he is not the boss. more of a big baby ...all bark no bite...good luck!
consult your vet first...the nails are part of a dog's natural defense, and she is probably not use to having her feed handled, too...or just have the vet do it. The vet has people to help hold her down, if necessary. If a dog gets exercise, and puts those nails to use, such as for digging, there shouldn't be a problem with nail length. I have 3 dogs, and have never needed to clip their nails. Of course, they all get to go outside, and have the chance to keep their toenails worn down naturally. They range in age from 2 years (pitbull) to 8 years (blue heeler X). The middle one is 7 years and a Saint Bernard X at 160 pounds, I wouldn't want to tackle her, but do think she would let me do her paws, if necessary. Teach them to shake is a good way to get them use to paw/feet handling. When mine shake, I always reward them with a puppy bone.

Suffering from increasing pain due to nail -in growth in my left foot toe, someone help me to get ridof it soon

podiatristSuffering from increasing pain due to nail -in growth in my left foot toe, someone help me to get ridof it soon
you need to go to a Podiatric, I did have the same problem 5 years ago and didnt go to a doctor because my stupidity, I thought cutting it would solve the problem and of course it did not,the nail kept growing and getting into the skin and it was really painful, at last I went to the podiatric (he was 3 miles from my house and me suffering for a year!)and what he did was that he cut part of the nail (the part that kept growing the wrong direction and getting to the skin) he cut it from the root, apply something and like a miracle that part NEVER grew back, you will never notice you ';lost'; a little part of your nail, try to look for a podiatric, you wont regret it, it hurts a little when he does the procedure but the results are great and you wont suffer in grown nail never!Suffering from increasing pain due to nail -in growth in my left foot toe, someone help me to get ridof it soon
Go the to doctor. I repeatedly have in grown toe nails, I went to the doctor and he removed the roots. My toe looks funny, with half of a toenail, but it doesn't hurt.
My friend had to have an in office surgery done to get rid of hers. You need to go see a foot doctor.
You need to soak your foot in as hot as you can bear water with salt in it, it will draw out the infection
I had that a lot when I was in high school. Try soaking your foot in some warm water with Epsom Salts for a half hour once or twice a day.

You may have to go to the doctor and have him remove part of the nail. I had this done and it was no biggie. He filled my toe full of novacaine and just yanked out the ingrown part. The relief from the pain was immediate and amazing.
See a podiatrist. Be sure to ask about proper maintenance of nails. IE mainly the proper way to cut them. Don't put it off as will only get worst and the end result will be having it removed (owie!)and praying it comes back healthy.

A good manicures may help if it's it's in the early stages but it hard to find one that only makes them pretty and really doesn't have a clue about healthy toenails. Your best bet is a podiatrist.
How Can Ingrown Toenails Be Treated?

In mild cases, ingrown toenails may be treated with a 15-20-minute soak in warm water. Dry cotton can be placed under the corner of the nail. Talk to your doctor if you are experiencing increasing pain, swelling and drainage of the area. Minor surgery can be performed to remove the part of the nail that is poking into the skin.

How Can Ingrown Toenails Be Prevented?

You can prevent ingrown toenails by:

    Wearing shoes that fit properly

Keeping your toenails at a moderate length and trimming them straight across

    Wearing protective footwear

    What Are the Treatments?

Most ingrown nail problems can be prevented with proper grooming of the toes and by wearing better-fitting shoes. Try to reduce pressure on the toe by wearing sandals or by not wearing a shoe for several days.

Avoid trimming the corner of the toenail. This can lead to a worsening of the ingrown toenail.

Try soaking your toe in warm water two times a day. If you can, lift the edge of the nail and wedge a piece of cotton between the nail and your skin. If the nail has not been ingrown for long, it may heal in one to two weeks. Seek help from a healthcare professional if home management techniques do not relieve your symptoms or if the nail becomes infected.

If you seek medical help because your ingrown nail has become infected, your doctor will probably prescribe an antibiotic. In some cases, your doctor may recommend partial removal of a severely ingrown nail. Permanent removal of the entire nail may be advised if ingrowth occurs repeatedly. These procedures can usually be done in the doctor's office under a local anesthetic.

My toe nails are not ingrown, yet they feel as if they are. my podiatrist says there is nothing wrong, still?

i feel pain. is any body with a similar experience that can give me some feed back?My toe nails are not ingrown, yet they feel as if they are. my podiatrist says there is nothing wrong, still?
I had this problem the Dr did an in office minor surgery and slimmed both big toe nails and i have been pain free ever since. Maybe you can ask your Dr about it.My toe nails are not ingrown, yet they feel as if they are. my podiatrist says there is nothing wrong, still?
This is a typical pain if your shoes don't fit properly. Either too small, too tight in toes, too loose in the rest of the foot (foot slides forward into toe of shoe). Too high a heel. Too pointy a toe on shoes.

Try an experiment. Wear low open toe shoes without socks or hosiery to squish toes for a few days. Then try your usual pair and see if pain returns.

You might consider measuring your feet to see if all your shoes are just too small. And of course sizes vary by designer. Never buy the size, buy the fit.
maybe your shoes are too tight? just keep your nails clean and trimmed. don't worry too much if the doctor says it's OK but keep an eye on it
You should go have your nails done, a pedicure, my best girl friend says thats why she gets hers done.

  • Cure for fungus on toe nails?

    Hi Everyone:

I just wanted to know if some of you know about an effective home/medical treatment for curing fungus on toe nails. I am not currently suffering from that nail infection. However, the other day I noticed that the nail of my big right toe was slightly different so I just wanted to be prepared inthe event I could have this problem. I would really appreciate that some of you help me out by giving me the right advise.

Thank you in advanceCure for fungus on toe nails?
Some nails turn grey or darker from rubbing on shoes, my little toes would get this from tight shoes. But if it is fungus, it is a tough one to get under control. The prescription method is a pill that you take for months and is known to cause liver damage. But Tea tree essential oil and it's more powerful cousin Manuka oil have been showing great results. Apparently with nail fungus the important thing is to never miss an application because is it waiting to spring up into full force again.Cure for fungus on toe nails?
Whether white vinegar or apple cider vinegar, this is the cheapest treatment intended to eradicate fungal infections from toenails or fingernails.

Most vinegar cure toe nail fungus consists of daily foot baths in a solution of 50% water and 50% vinegar.

It is suggested to alternate and mix hot baths and cold baths, although in either case, it is necessary to keep your feet soaking for at least 30 minutes. People who have successfully tried this treatment recommend 3 baths a day, morning, noon and evening.

The acidity of vinegar relieves the itching and repairs the PH balance, necessary to combat fungi, the microorganism responsible for toenail fungus. Vinegar is a sour tasting liquid, resulting from the oxidation of ethanol in fermented fruit juice, cider, beer, wine, and other liquids containing alcohol.

Is this true - if the ';half moon beds'; on your toe nails are pink or red, you have heart disease?

No, just another ';old wives tale'; Don't worry.

What is good for for brittle toe nails?

big, yellowWhat is good for for brittle toe nails?
Foot nail fungus can be extremely embarrassing. The fungus makes beautiful nails turn into yellow, brittle and ugly toenails. However, you can maintain the beauty and health of your toenails with these 4 easy preventative tips!

Preventative Tip #1 - Keep Your Feet Clean and Dry

When your feet stay dirty or damp, it increases the risk that you will develop a nail fungus infection. Inside your socks, where it stays moist, warm and damp - fungus will invade and flourish in that type of environment. By keeping your socks clean, dry and fresh, you will prevent foot nail fungus from taking over.

Use a nail brush to clean under your toenails regularly. This will keep them clean so that there is no attraction for the nail fungus. Also, be very careful when you're trimming your toe nails. A tiny cut, even if you don't feel it, will provide an entry point for foot nail fungus to invade. If you do accidentally cut your skin, clean it immediately with alcohol and use an antibiotic ointment. Covering it with a bandage may seem like overkill, but it will help keep fungus from entering the cut.

Preventative Tip #2 - Shoes On and Shoes Off

It's important that you keep your shoes on when you are in public places - even if (or especially) if everyone else is going barefoot. If someone else has a foot nail fungus problem, there is a chance you can pick it up by going barefoot. This includes places like the showers at the pool, the gym and anywhere that other people walk regularly. This will keep your toenails healthy and safe.

When you're at home, you can take your socks and shoes off and allow your feet and toenails to breathe. Go barefoot or wear cozy slippers with no toe covers. This allows the air to get to your feet and toenails and reduces the moisture by your feet. Together, these things will help you prevent foot nail fungus.

Preventative Tip #3 - Extracts and Oils

Some plant extracts and oils are known to reduce foot nail fungus that plagues you. You can prevent this fungus by using natural oils and extracts like Jojoba oil, Tea Tree oil and Vitamin E oil which are all health supportive for your toenails. Simply rub the oils on your toenails one to three times a day and allow your toenails and skin to absorb the oils.

This will help you prevent foot nail fungus from taking over and turning your beautiful nails into yellow, brittle and ugly nails.

When you use these three preventative tips, you can keep your toenails healthy and beautiful. Hope this helps! What is good for for brittle toe nails?

In the abscence of having dropped something on your toe, it's more than likely a fungal infection which is treatable with over the counter medicines or ask an aromatherapist for some help. Why is one of my big toe nails going black?
You have probably stubbed it or dropped something on it

recently.making it bleed under the nail. Why is one of my big toe nails going black?
sounds like a blood blister or a serious fungal infection. is it thick and lifting from the bed? gross, but go to a gp and get some anti-biotics
Is the skin around it turning black also? Are you a diabetic? Diabetics can have poor circulation in their extremities. I hope not, but you could be developing gangrene. It could also be a fungal infection or an injury. Not sure. Have it checked out by your doctor.
You must have hit it against something, black under the nail is a collection of blood, nothing serious

    Cut a dogs toe nails?

i have always taken my dog to the groomer to get her nails cut but money is gettin tight for me so i bought a pair of clippers so i could do it my self but i have no clue how. i have a german shepherd and every site i go to says cut till the white part is gone but her nails are all black... i know they are too long cuz they are really sharp. any help would be much appreciatedCut a dogs toe nails?
You cut only a tiny bit for the first few times til you and the dog get used to it. Have someone else with you to help you hold her and if you cut too deep, you should have stiptic pencil on hand or I think cornstarch works too but they can bleed pretty bad and then they dont' let you do it again cause they remember the pain so go real easy and only cut the tips for now.Cut a dogs toe nails?
Well, if you have a friend with a dog that has light colored nails, you can check theirs out to get an idea of how far the quick goes... it should be proportional for your dog. When in doubt, nip a little bit at a time.

(Also, if you have a Petsmart nearby, they usually do nail trimming and ear cleaning for about $12.)

Here is a website that has some pretty good pictures and guidelines for how much to cut off.
I would reccomend to go and get them cut professionally, taking the dog to the vet because of an infected nail that was cut improperly will cost a lot more than getting the nails cut to start with.
you just have to sort of get the tips off...not to much cuz if you do then you will hit the blood vein thats sort of in the nail and the dog will bleed.
Get a dremel tool and learn to grind them. Shep's need a tight short nail to prevent orthopedic problems in the future.

Go to Doberdogs.com for a tutorial on how to use a dremel on a dog.
I never go to groomers for my 10 dogs...i do it myself....but i usually do it when they are sleeping and do it little by little....
I had a black dog and had the same problem. I was told to just cut the tips off.I also used a file to smooth them out.
you need to have the right kind of clippers; dogs have blood veins in there nails..the vet will show you how to use them appropriately.
i have the same problem... i`m gonna use a file and file them down so i won't hurt my Baby.. :)

How to whiten toe nails gone yellow?

You have toenail fungus. Go to the doctor they have pills for that. How to whiten toe nails gone yellow?
Here is a variety of items

http://www.nextag.com/toenail-yellow/sea鈥?/a>How to whiten toe nails gone yellow?
Find out the cause...could be a fungal infection, for which you will need to see a doc for medication. Could also be discoloration from painting - make sure you use clear base coat to prevent next time - you can put a little bleach on them to whiten them. Mix 1/2 water and 1/2 bleach solution - apply a few times until they whiten:) Good Luck.
get a bowl of water and put lemon juice in it then put your yellow nails(hads or feet) in it and let it soak for bout 10 min.
Try soaking the toe nails in warm water with a false teeth whitening tablet. It helps breakdown the discoloration and bring out the natural color.
that happened to me once and it was from painting them to much .just stop painting them and that should take care of the problem
Use a good buffer. Most of the time that takes care of nail discoloration from polish %26amp; the sun. If it doesn't work, you might want to make sure you don't have fungus. I know someone that puts Vicks on her toes twice a day to get rid of fungus %26amp; it works! If all else fails, just keep painting your pretty piggies!
    bleach it with clothes bleacher
    house paint
alot of times the nail yellows because of the paint on there before especially if it's a dark color or has been on a long time. You can use a nail buffer on the nail just lightly buff it, the yellow is just on the top layer so you don't have to buff much. Make sure you put on a base coat first that helps with the yellowing If you want it to last a long time I love Orly's bonder base coat. It gets stickey when it dries to make the polish last better : ) you can find it at Sally's beauty supply
    i dont know... clean them??

    Lines on big toe nails?

I have these vertical lines on my big toe nails...they seem like a splits and there are smaller faint ones. What causes this and how do i get rid of them?Lines on big toe nails?
    You're getting older.

You can keep your nails healthy by ensuring you get enough gelatine in your diet. That's not normally a problem for meat eaters.

The ridges in your nails can be polished out using a fine emery board, but this will make the nails thin. If it's not causing you any problems, leave them alone.Lines on big toe nails?
usually a fungal infection and/or a Calcium deficientcy.
hi , if these lines are actual splits it usually shows a lack of calcium, if they are more like ridges then thats right for toe nails , you can make your nails smooth by gently filing them with a nail file you know the kind with several rough n smoother feels if that makes sense .. if they are splitting i have found that jelly helps ...do not make the jelly eat a cube a day from the packet ..i think its the glycerine thats init that works ...or the strong results nail hardener from avon works a treat %26amp; its about æ‹¢3 ! !
I have ridges in my fingernails. Must be hereditary as I'm not deficient in anything.
I shouldn't think there is anything to worry about there, they might just be temporary lines that you got from banging your toe, wait for a new nail to grow.
I have these too, I think it's probably AIDS. Or cancer.
Possibly dryness. People tend to neglect their feet cos most of the time they're encased in shoes and socks and hidden away! Try to moisturse and massage your feet as often as possible, or better still get someone else to do it for you!
It's caused by vitamin deficiency. Either hereditary or due to poor diet.

get your doctor to prescribe you an antifungal pill.. theres creams for that.Whats the best way to get rid of my thick yellow narly toe nails, before i pull them out by the root?
it sounds like you have a fungal infection under your toenails where the skin lies, you need to see a doctor, there is a medication that treats this and you should notice results in about a week, you could also talk to a pharmacist for more details.
That is almost always a fungal infection of the tissue underlying the nail bed. There are some good prescription medications for it; talk with your doctor about getting one.
IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE A FUNGAL PROBLEM. BEST IF YOU SEE A DERMATOLOGIST
eww fungus jkjk see the doc hope it works
I've been told you can cure the fungus by coating them with Vicks vapor rub every night. It takes a while.
First see your Dr. you may have a nail infection that can be treated with either an oral antibiotic or a topical.

Second, take care of them! Get regular pedis- a beauty school usually can do them for a cut rate by students who are learning - and they are generally just as good as if it was done by a pro salon. :)

    Good luck
It's a fungal infection. You need to get on meds in order to get rid of it. Unfortunately, pulling them out won't help. They'll just grow back the same way.
go take a chainsaw to those nasty azz thangz. i bet they look like petrified potato chips!!!
There's a medication that you take by mouth called Lamisil. You take it for 3 months and your toenails fix themselves!! It's quite amazing. But you need a prescription from your doc. :)

    What are toe nails for?

What use are they, can we do without them. What are toe nails for?
I copied this from somewhere...I hope it was helpful!

';For a very long time it was speculated that toe-nails protected the nerve endings in the hands and toes from over stimulation and impact.';What are toe nails for?
haha that is a very interesting question. Toe nails are made up of a protein called Keratin. They enhance the sensitivity of the toe by acting as a counter force. They have developed over evolution on our bodies to also protect our toes from things dropping on them and infection just as a shell protects an egg. You could go without them, i m a dancer and have lost my pinky toe nails a few times but you need to take care of them way more. However, i have never lost my big toe nail so i m not sure how that would be. I am sure you could live without them but why would you want to?
The same as finger nails, to prevent the end of your fingers being crushed. Image not having toe nails! Wierd. We wouldn't be able to do so many things.
to protect the ends of our toes!!!!! imagine how sensetive your toes would be without them!
One thing's for sure they don't stop you from stubbing your toes.

My toe nails have gone yellow brittle and disfigured can any one help me ? :(

is there anything to numb the pain so i can pull it off as its loose as well or is there anything else to help me ?My toe nails have gone yellow brittle and disfigured can any one help me ? :(
Yuk! If it is just discolouring, then lemon juice will sort that out, but it sounds more important than that. If you pull it off, you will regret it-infection has a much higher chance of getting in and you won't be able to walk on it. (And it will hurt.)

Get yourself down the quack and they will see to it. Even if it just the nurse that is available, go and see them if your doc is busy. Whatever happens, don't pull it off-you'll regret it.My toe nails have gone yellow brittle and disfigured can any one help me ? :(
It sounds like a fungal nail infection. You can try tea-tree oil; but, it seems it has gone way beyond that if it is loose. The infection is really under the nail forcing it to come off. You should see a chiropodist or your GP to see how bad the infection is and to prescribe something appropriate.
sounds like you have a very bad fungal infection, go see your doctor.

I did read somewhere if you bath the nail in listerin the mouth wash that it clears the infection. As your toe already hurts I'd go to the doctor.
If I was you jordan w I would go and see your doctor. It sounds to me like you have a fungal nail infection. If you don't get it treated it will spread.
I think it is a fungus,go to the doctor, you might be able to buy something on your own but it might not work as fast.

Mix 1/4 c. bleach in 4 cups water. Soak your toes in the water for 10 mins and rinse well. This should help with the discoloration.

If that doesn't help consider finding a salon that also does mens grooming. It might sound weird but getting a pedicure might be what you need to keep your feet nice.

They won't paint the nails any funny colors or anything. They may top it with a matte polish to protect it. In anycase they should be able to help you. If you don't want to ask people you know try visiting a fine mens wear store and ask if they can recomend a full serice stylist shop which does mens manicures.

Worst case scenario ask the best dressed male clerk at Macy's. He will get you pointed in the right dirrection. You don't need to mention your toes, just ask for a Male friendly full service salon.

Try this product called ';Fungus No More'; - it's made especially for toes. http://www.vitabase.com/supplements/beau鈥?/a>
    VICKS Vaporub!!!

I know it sounds peculiar, but everyone at the hospital I work at recommended it for my hubby who has been dealing with toenail fungus on his big toe for 3 years now.

He's seen his internist and a podiatrist and they've each prescribed him some very costly medication; both oral pills and topical ointments. Some ointment as costly as almost $100.00 for 1.5 oz.. None worked too well.

He started applying the VICKS every evening, before bed, and putting on cotton socks to sleep in (just to keep the Vicks off the bed-sheets). In less than 3 weeks his toenail fungus was clearing up. Pretty interesting. Don't know exactly HOW it works, or why, but at this point, WHO CARES!!! As long as it works. His toenail looks almost as normal as the other one now. Hopefully by this summer, he won't be embarassed to wear sandals or go barefoot on vacation! Give it a try. It's inexpensive and you've got nothing to loose. Except maybe for some nasty nail fungus!!!! Good luck!!!!
Tea Tree Oil is great for this. You can buy it almost anywhere.
If it's the yellow toenail fungus that thickens your nails and smells bad when you cut them, use Vicks Vaporub. Lamisil is very nasty and can ruin your liver. I've been using Vicks for over a year and I only have a tiny little bit at the end of my toenails left. I sometimes forgot or put it on once a day. I may have had it totally clear if I didn't slack a little sometimes. :)

You work a thin layer on your toenails twice a day, paying particular attention to the base of your nails. If you're in a hurry use it three times a day. Just be patient. You will see results in a couple of months. I saw a nice pink area at the base of my nails. That kept me using it. A small jar will last a long time. So it's a very cheap fix.
there is a product available at pharmacy called daktarin.... comes as a varish type bottle and you paint it on and under the free edge of the nail. you need to keep using it for at least 2 weeks arter the symptoms dissapear though to be sure all of the fungal spores have been destroyed and it wont just reinfect your toe nail. hope that helps you
    Start taking ';Lamisil';.

Wear socks--all the time. And try to replace it with another habit, perhaps one that's productive. Instead of picking your toe nails, exercise. Do crunches or push ups. Or start coloring a picture. Habits are very difficult to break but it's always easy to just replace them.

I have had these in the past and this is how I've dealt with it: use nail clippers and get as much of the toenail out of the corners of your toes where they are ingrown as possible. This should immediately relieve a lot of the pain. Then, when the nail starts to grow back, put cotton gauze or pieces of cotton ball in the corners of the toe, under your nail, to prevent them from growing back into the corners. Change this daily. If that doesn't help and the toenail continues to grow back into the corner, see a podiatrist.
Its an ingrown toenail, which is usually caused by cutting the nail too short and the skin growing over the regrowing toenail. Talk to your doctor. Sometimes, depending on the severity of it, the have to be removed. Also, what I personally was told to do was cut away from that perticular corner, so you can allow the nail to grow back to where it is supposed to be. I'd definately talk to your doctor soon, though, to prevent further discomfort to your feet. And BE CAREFUL NOT to stub your toes....it makes for excruciating pain, and can cause infection and further damage to your toes and toenails...I feel for you on this one...Good luck!
wow i know that hurts really bad go to a foot specialist but ouch i feel for u ingrown hairs are painful but ingrown nails oooo
It sounds like you have in-grown toenails. They can indeed be painful. You need to see a podiatrist. I am sure he/she can fix you right up.
That sounds like an ingrown toenail. That can be very painful. You can go to a foot doctor ( podiatrist) or to any general doctor. They know how to fix it and can tell you how to prevent it in the future.

My 2 big toe nails seem to be turning white ,but just in one area any idea what could be causing this?

Nail discolorations in both fingers and toes can come from a variety of things. Banging your foot on the car, your diet, illnesses, poisons, even lotions and soaps can cause discolorations in your nails. If you're pretty sure you aren't being poisoned, and you haven't been ill, you can just about bet that they come from hitting your foot or squashing it into your shoes! Nothing to worry about (unless you think you might actually be BEING poisoned!)My 2 big toe nails seem to be turning white ,but just in one area any idea what could be causing this?
That means, luck of vitamin C.My 2 big toe nails seem to be turning white ,but just in one area any idea what could be causing this?
    calcium deficiency
if your nails turn white it means their bruised but its no big deal when the new cells grow in they grow white.
Could be a vitamin deficiency...B12 deficiency is common and streaking on the finger/toe nails is a symptom.. Look on web md for more info.
it might b a fungus growing under ur toenail...i have heard if u soak ur toenails in listerene it will kill fungus
Check your shoes. If you subconsciously lift your big toes up many times during the day, they rub against the toe of your shoe. The pressure polishes the tops of your big toenails.

Also, make sure your toenails are not too long.
The most common thing would be toe fungus under the nail. There are a number of over the counter treatments but they take months to work unfortunately.
whites ok as long as it doesn't turn red and start throbbing cause that can be an ingrown toe nail.
go see a podiatrist...but could also be that you are wearing shoes that are too tight or narrow
You might be low in iron..but i'm not sure...go ask the doctor

2 of my toe nails are getting black.?

I keep my feet clean and I do not wear shoes, just sandals which are open in front. There is no pain. What is this?2 of my toe nails are getting black.?
the black toe nail means that there is a blood bruise underneith your toe nail. sometimes you can't feel them. but definently the best thing to do is to wash them every morning and every night to make sure there is no infection. also, use some alchohol and/or poroxide on it every morning and every night. hopefully it should go away, but if it continues for a long time, you might want to see your doctor. hope i helped!2 of my toe nails are getting black.?
I had a black toenail once because I dropped something on it and it was trapped dried blood under the nail.

It grew out eventually. Unless you did injure any of your naild it could be some kind of fungus and a doctor may be recommended.
are you sure no one has stepped on them or bumped them in anyway? Black toenails means there is blood underneath. I shut my foot in a door and it caught my toe, it went black and fell off (the nail I mean!)

    See a GP
You should go to a doctor because it could be a sign of illness or fungus. Either way the doctor can tell you what must be done.

    Good luck
It could be a growing bacteria. But I would suggest to go to the doctor, he know's much more about stuff like this. Good luck! :)
i would recommend asking your doctor....

    theres deff something wrong.

How to cut toe nails for diabetics?

Don't cut them too short that is what causes the problems for diabetics, they get infected easily, just be carefulHow to cut toe nails for diabetics?
Cut straight across so that the edges are less likely to grow into the skin around the nail causing ingrown toenails.

Check your feet daily for any sores- especially if you have neuropathy at all. Diabetics heal slowly- especially in the extremeties, so it is important to be deligent in checking your lower legs and feet. Diabetes is the number one cause of non-traumatic leg amputations due to unchecked infections. How to cut toe nails for diabetics?
You are not suppose to do this...you are to have a dr do this and sho w you how or you can die!!!! Do not try this until you see a dr.
Your podiatrist can show you how to properly cut your toenails. However, always allow only your podiatrist to take care of problems like callouses, blisters, skin cracks, and hangnails. You most certainly don't want those to become ulcers when you are a diabetic. Whether you have neuropathy or not, check your feet every morning and evening for signs of injury or abnormal wear. Use a good lotion on them every morning, but not between the toes. (I find the stuff with shea butter works great.) Get some good walking exercise in several times a week for circulation. Don't be a tightwad on buying some good shoes, even if you have to spring for the orthotic customs. We all only have two feet for standard equipment!

Probably a bit more info than you were looking for, but hopefully you find some good tidbits. :)
I would have your doctor do this. Feet are very vulnerable to diabetics. One infection can lead to a whole set of major problems

  • What Causes cracked toe nails?

Please help!! My brother has cracked toe nails, he's had them all his life and he is 11, now. I am really worried for him...They don't crack across, they crack downwards!! Please help!! D:What Causes cracked toe nails?
First of all for trimming never ever use a nail clipper, it will make the nails more brittle and cause cracking, after showering have him rub baby oil or some type of moisturizer on them, massage them into the nail. Best time to actually do this is before bed time when you're at rest and can leave the nails to breathe while moisturizing. Use a nail file only to trim them. There is also a product you can find at a beauty supply store, MAYBE a pharmacy would have it, it is called Tea tree oil, it helps anything from fungus to cracked hands, nails.

It is about $8-$10 but does work. What Causes cracked toe nails?
Nail-fungus cure: Prescription topical drugs such as ciclopirox (Penlac Nail Lacquer) and naftifine (Naftin) are generally much safer than systemic ones. But they need to be applied twice a day for 4 to 6 months on fingernails, 12 to 18 months on toenails. Even then, they quell only about 10 percent of infections. There are no nonprescription topical-drug options. Preliminary evidence suggests that one herbal product, tea-tree oil, might work slight better than the prescription topicals-but that's not saying much. In one six month study, for example, applying the oil twice a day and periodically filing the infected toenail killed the fungus in nearly 20 percent of patients; there was no follow-up on whether the infection recurred, as it often does. And good luck.
crash maybe. or your genetic. the only solution is pull off the rest of your brother's toe nails. and wait the new one grown
More than likely he has toenail fungus. see a doctor and he can help..

Cut the socks off carefully, you could start a new fashion trend for cloth nails.
    use acetone (nailp polish remover)

I hate trimming my toe nails. I don't like the feeling when I cut them too short by accident. I hate trying to cut them straight across. It is a pain with a curved nail clipper.
